BOWLING.

GISBORNE CHUB. To the right-minded bowler the attractions of the green far outweigh those of an agricultural show ground, and the fascinations of the most graceful and skilful riders are as nothing compared! with the allurements of Kitty. Therefore it was to be expected that* many of the members of the Gisborne bowling Club, loyal bowlers as thev are. should prefer to play the old English' game rather than to watch the ladies’ jumping matches at the show grounds. There was a good muster of them on their green yesterday, when plav was carried on both morning and afternoon. The green was in capital order and as the weather was to match, the players had a very pleasant time. » . . i, c The following were tiie results or the games played:— Townson, R. G. Crawford, lvyrne-, Hennessy (skip) 26 beat Brown, Wilson, W. Pettie, Eure (skip) 16. Boulton, Wootton, Harris, Ambridge (skip) 25 beat Seymour, Paltndge, James, Mackintosh (skip) 18. Witty and T. A. Crawford (skip) 2o beat H. Miller, and Simson (skip) 21. Wilson, Paltridge, T. A. Crawford (skip) 29 beat Maher, W. Pettie, Simeon (skip) 20. Wootton and Ambridge (skip) 25 beat Seymour and Witty (skip) 9. TURANGANUI CLUB. Most of tlie members of the Turangauui Bowling Club made use of “People’s Day” for the purpose for which it was instituted, and in consequence there were but few bowlers on the club’s green yesterday, only two rinks being occupied in the afternoon. The second round in the Challenge Walking Stick was commenced, one game being played, and the result was: R. Sheet (11) beat A. Skillicorn (1). —As shown by the score, this was a runaway game for Sheet., who never took any chances with his • opponent, and won easily by 10 points.
