LAND SALE.
MESSRS WILLIAMS & KETTLE’S ANNUAL FIXTURE. The annual spring land sale was held in His Majesty’s Theatre on Saturday morning, being "conducted by Messrs Williams and Kettle, Ltd.j in conjunction with Messrs' Dalgety and Co., Ltd., and Mr. W. Lissant Clayton. Mr. G. li. WyLlio was the officiating, autcioneer. Quito a. lengthy list of properties, town, suburban, and country, were submitted for sale, but with the exception of the sections on the To Ran property, there was no demand, and ..the majority of the other properties ’ avere passed in without a bid being obtained. In all twenty-live of the Te Ran sections, w'itli frontages to the Taruheru River, Derby Street, Cobden Street, and Aberdeen Hoad were offered, and sold at satisfactory prices, as follows: — Section 1, 36 perches, containing the plantation at the corner of Aberdeen Road and Derby Street. —Mr. F. The next lots to be submittted were the subdivided sections of Mr. AV. K. Chambers’ well known Repongaerc property. lmt the few people, that remained after the town sections were disposed of evidently <l l cl not want country property, and no bids wore received for anv of the sections. By this time the attendance, whiAi had'been very large at the beginning, had dwindled to about a. dozen. There was absolutely no bidding, and the followin''- properties offered were all passod in Wnipora estate,(Mr. Barker’s property), 2093 acres; sections 15 and 16 AVhataupoko. 64 acres: Air. J. Kcne ally’s farm, 30 acres, Ormond; Air. S. Liddell's property, KaitiAir. Long’s sections, AVhataupoko; Captain "Kennedy’s Mahgapapa property - Airs. AV. -J. V. Gaudin’s Aberdeen Road property. Section 37, Childers Road, opposite the Gisborne Hotel, was then offered in six subdivisions, five of 25ft frontage and one of 40ft frontage, on the corner of Lowe Street. There were only two bidders, and the price of £25 per foot was tho highest- reached. At this the property was -passed in, a temporary option- at £27 10s being granted to Ah. A. F. Kennedy. After the auction an offer” of £4O a foot was received for half of section 6, tho corner subdivision.
