LONG’S WEED DESTROYER.
A SUCCESSFUL TEST
The efficacy of AVeodian, a patent weed exterminating preparation, invented by Mr. Thos. F. Long, of Gisborne, has been demonstrated in a striking manner. It will be remembered that on September ITtTi The inventor, in the presence of a “Times” representative and others interested in the matter, treated a couple of blackberry patches with the stuff, prophesying that the blackberries would be dead in a few weeks’ time. Yesterday a “Times” representative visited tlie place—a field off upper Gladstone Road —and found that every scrap of vegetation was dead and dry on the patches which had been sprayed with a solution of the exterminator. The brambles were apparently absolutely sapless and dead. If the ground is left unbroken for a year after treatment the inventor guarantees the extermination of tlie weed entirely. Mr. Long has previously demonstrated with success on Californian .thistle, gorse, sweetbriar, and ragwort.
