THE EIGHT HOURS ACT.
LONDON, Nov. X. The Newport Chamber of Commerce reports that the Eight Hours Act has reduced the output of coal in South Wales by ten per cent.
FRENCH-CANADIAN POSTAL SERVICE.

M. Millerand, French Minister of Public Works, is considering means to establish a postal service between France and Canada. ,
ENGLISH MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS

The returns of the municipal elections are still incomplete, but show that the Liberals and Unionists in the provinces about held their own, and that the Socialists suffered overwhelming defeat in many districts. i
CATTLE DRIVING IN IRELAND
Ninety head of cattle and 250 sheep have been driven from an adjoining farm into Galway. Eight arrests were made in connection with the affair.
