ORDERS FOR NOVEMBER
The following orders have been issued for November by Capt. C. Hellier Evans, officer commanding:— Squadron parade.—The squadron will parade mounted at the Park racecourse, on Tuesday, 9th November, 1909, at 11 a.m. sharp. Dress, drill order, service dress. The annual military sports are being held on this date, and every member should attend. Troops Parade. —Troops will parade dismounted as follows: Gisborne troop, at the Garrison Hall, on Wednesday, 17th inst., at 7.30' p.m.; Te Karaka troop, at Te Karaka Hall, on Saturday, 27th inst., at 7.30 p.m.; Makauri troop at Waerenga-a-hika Hall,.on Tuesday, 16th inst., at .7.30 p.m. Mounted parades will be held as may be ordered by troop leaders. Examination of non-com. officers.— The practical examinations of non-coms, who sat for the written part on the 20th October, will be conducted by the O.C. at the dismounted troop parades ordered above. Candidates will he examined in th© evening of their own troop parades. Bivouac.—The O.C. regrets that the weather prevented the bivouac arranged for 16th October being held, and intends to carry out the original scheme at a date to be notified later.
New Members.—A special meeting of the squadron will be held at the orderly room on Saturday, 6th November, at 8 p.m., for the purpose of electing new members. The following nominations have been received : Arthur Braithwaite, H. C. Hedley, E. A. Little (Gisborne troop). A. Deverv, J. Edwards, F. P. Phillips, W. H. Buru (Te Karaka troop), W. Hart (Makauri troop). Further nominations will die received up to evening of meeting. Class Firing.—Members are notified that the annual course must be completed as soon as possible, and troop leaders will arrange accordingly. Recruits. —The squadron . .sergeantmajor will during November inspect recruits, and will report to the O.C. on their proficiency or otherwise in drills and attendance. Parades for this purpose are to be ordered by tro-op leaders, who will notify the O.C. before 9th inst. of the dates fixed. Warrant Officers. —The following extract from the Regimental Orders is’ published for general information: “It j,s notified that Staff Sergeant-Majors Wm. T. Burr (mounted) and L. F. McNair (infantry), staff instructors for this district, have been promoted to warrant rank, and are entitled to be addressed as-Mr. Burr and Mr McNair-, the same as subaltern officers. In writing to them they should be addressed as ‘Staff Sergeant-Major,’ a,s hitherto.”
