TURANGANUI CLUB

A meeting of tljh Match Committee of the Turanganui Bowling Club was held yesterday afternoon, when the matter of the unplaved matches in the second rounds of the Douglas Feathers and Challenge Walking Stick was considered. In the former competition it was resolved that A. Skilhcorn and L. Morse forfeit to G. Edwards and I B. Hallam, the former pair not having been on the green since the draw in the second round. In the Challenge Walking Stick, Ratcliffe was awarded the came against H. Martin, owing to iionappearance of the latter player, and toi the same reason G. Edwards forfeited his t-o E .Lewis. Owing to V. HDoiiglas and P. E. Hallam being on the green on ono afternoon and not playing, both were struck out, and tor a similar reason H. J • Finn anli Colley were dealt with in like manner. M. A. Neill and W. Hay were present on their respective half-holidays, so that neither met, and the committee decided to strike out both. The draw in the semi-final of the Walking Stick resulted: E. Lewis plays It. 0. Skeet; W. ltatcliffe having the bye. The semi-final of the Douglas Feathers resulted in the following draw: D J. Barrv and M. G- Nasmith junr (skip) play G. Edwards and P. E. Hallam (skip); W. Edwards and J*. H. Jeune drew the bye. The semi-finals in both matches are to be played by Saturday next, November 13th, or forfeited. A meeting of the General Committee of the Club was held in the Eecord Iteign Hotel last evening, when there were present Messrs M. G. Nasmith jnr (in the chair), J. D. Jeune, J. P. Williams, and W. O. Skeet (secretary). A circular in regard to the annual tournament of the Northern Bowling Association was received, and it was resolved that entries be invited for the same. It was also resolved that any four players go entering be allowed to constitute themselves into rinks for the purposes of the tournament, all entrance fees to be paid by the players. Copies of the annual report of Jlie Northern Bowling Association, together with the scores of the rinks at the last tournament at Napier, and the list' of affiliated clubs', were received. A programme""!.f thsT tournament of the. New Zealand Bowling Association, which takes place at Dunedin, was also received. It was decided to extend a cordial invitation to the Wairoa Club to play a friendly match with the Turanganui Club during the season. A lot of discussion ensued re the caretaker, and his salary was made a fixed one. It was resolved that the Committee meet on the first Friday in every month. After the passing of. accounts the meeting terminated.
