The weather for the second day of the Canterbury Jockey Club’s Metropolitan meeting showed, a decided improvement on that of Saturday, being fine and warm, at times almost oppressively so. The course /was in capital; order, and the attendance very good. The racing was interesting throughout, and with good fields, speculation was brisk. The totalisator investments amounted to £23,012, as compared with £22,134 on the corresponding day . last year. There were three spills in the Fturdle Race, but none of the rid- , ers -was seriously hart. Elysian*,s win . in the Derby was very popular.
