With reference to the cablegram from London concerning the case of the Otago- Farmers’ Co-operative Association v. Thompson, inquiries sho-w that the amount in dispute was about U7OO and that the association merely acted as agents in the matter. The meat (frozen beef) was shipped on the (Surrey on behalf of Messrs Harrison ami Samson, Dunedin, and the claim was made under an insurance policy, but this was contested on the grounds that the loss sustained was not covered by the policy. Legal opinion was obtained and the Association, as shippers, was advised to take the case to the law courts and its London office accordingly proceeded against- the underwriters.
