ATTEMPTED suicide. [Per Press Association, j CHRISTCHURCH, Nov, 9. Henry John Morgan, a middle-aged married man, attempted to commit suicide by taking poison to-day. He has been admitted, to the hospital in a precarious condition. PROPOSED BAND CONTEST. DUNEDIN, Nov. 8. At a meeting of representatives of the Kaikorai citizens, Mornington, Caversliam, Lyttelton Marine Bands held to-night it was resolved to hold a monster band contest in Dunedin about the latter end of next year. Smith, a resident of Woodlands, died at the. hospital this morning from scalds sustained last week. While working at a range she slipped and capsized a kettle of boiling water over her bodv.
