GISBORXE CLCT

Tlie A and B grade four-oared races were continued last night over the A\ ai-mat-a course. Two races were rowed, the final in the A grade and the semifinal in the B grade. The A grade race was between 1 • Hamilton (str), C. Morse, L. Bright, F. Parnell and Gully (str), Rogers, Donald, S. Coleman. Both crews got away well together from the start, and rowed abreast to the junction of the rivers. Approaching the bridge Hamilton drew awav, and eventually won easily by two lengths. Hamilton’s crew thusWiii the trophies presented by Mr. AY. J. Hennessy. In the B grade race the crews were those that had rowed a dead-heat on Thursday evening: H. Puflett (str) Wheeler", Clarkson. Richmond, and J. M. Curtis (str), Gatland, Mulvihill, Dawson. The crews got away to a good start, hut after going a short distance Puflett’s crew drew away, and at the bridge had established a lead of two length's. From this point .Curtis’ crew put in a- great effort, and rapidly overhauled their opponents. They were, however, unable to quite catch them, and Puflett’,s crew won a great race by less than half a length. , . The final, to decide the ownersmp ox the trophies donated by Mr. R. Robertson, will be rowed this evening between the crews stroked by H. Puflett and I*. H. AY. Traill.

A special committee meeting of the Gisborne Rowing Club was held last night, Mr. AV. Johnston (vice-captain) presiding. Mr. Stuart Murray was elected a member of the club, and Mr. F.
