A SAD FATALITY.
TWO NATIVES DROAYNED AT TE ARAROA.
Air. E. H. Henderson, of Hick's Bay, telephoned from Tel Araroa yesterday morning as follows to Air. Preston, of the Union S.S. Co. : On Saturday morning three natives went out in a‘ boat fisning. Tiler attempted to return about three o’clock in the afternoon, and when about halfway home the boat capsized. The three occupants hung on for some time, when the first one. named Tirapira Hand, dropped off and was drowned. The boat still drifted before the wind in the direction of Horoera, and soon, the second man, named AYirepu Tapinana. dropped off and was seen no more. The boat still continued drifting with the third man, Pulia'ka Kahere. He managed to get a piece of planking and proceeded to swim. After some time he safely reached shore at Arupua in an exhausted condition. An oil launch left this morning to make all possible search for the bodies of the two missing man, but the quest was unsuccessful. Yesterday Sergeant Hutton received confirmation of the sad fatality, and up till a late hour last night no news had reached town of the recovery of the bodies.
