STATE FERRY SERVICE.
OPPOSITION AT BLENHEIM
ri’Elt PUKSS ASSOCIATION.] BLENHEIM, Nov. 13. The suggestion of the Prime Minister to establish a State-owned ferry service between Wellington and Lyttelton was discussed at a meeting of the Marlborough Chamber of Commerce last night, and tine following resolution was passed: ‘That this Chamber views with alarm the suggestion to establish a State-owned ferry service between Wellington and Lyttelton?, and the consequent postponement of the South Island Main Trunk line, the progress of which has been so slow, and desires to impress on the Government the necessity for the early completion of the line in the interests of the district and the Dominion generally. The Chamber argues that a substantial sum be placed on the Estimates for the immediate extension of the railway.
