PREMATURE EXPLOSION

Three quarrvmen at Calder’s quarry. North East Valiev, have been injured by the premature explosion of a shot. William Boyes had his leg broken. .Richard Malford sustained severe injuries to his eyes. Janies Medlin received minor abrasions. It is a miracle that ali were not killed, as 50 tons of material was dislodged. A TRAMCAR ACCIDENT. DUNEDIN, Nov. 14. A laborer named John. Finnerty, 19 years of age, met with a serious accident last night. He was on a tramear between 7 and 8 o’clock, and when the car was near Albany Street his hat blew off. Finnerty either jumped or fell off the car, and was picked up in an unconscious condition. He was taken to tlie hospital, but at 5 p.m. to-day was still unconscious.
