CRICKET.
SENIOR COMPETITION. The championship competition was resumed on Saturday afternoon, in dull, but fine weather. The fixtures were the second day’s play in the United-\\ aiKlerers and Y.M.C.A.-Taruheru games, the former being played at the Domain, and the latter at Taruheru. UNITED V. WANDERERS. At the close of play on the previous' Saturday Wanderers, in their first innings had scored 4G for 6 wickets m reply to United’s total of i 3. On iesiuning on Saturday, Wanderers carried their total to 85, establishing a lead of 12 on the first innings. United, on going to bat a second time, fared better and. ran up a score of 115 before tlio last wic'ket fell. Wanderers, with three quarters of an hour to bat, had made 65 for 4 wickets at call of time, and thus obtained a 2-point win. The following are the detailed
JUNIOR COMPETITION. UNITED v. Y.M.C.A.
The.s-e teams met for the first time this season at the Domain. United j batted first, but were all dismissed lor the very small score of 8 runs 4 of j •which wore 1 made by Huston and 3 by i “extras.” Edwards took 6 wickets for 5 runs and Jones 4 for 1. Y.M.C.A., in their first innings, made 33, none ot the batesmen reaching double figures. Jtio-bv took 7 wickets for 10 runs, and Gotland 3 for 17. In their second innings United scored 54, Sissons (24) and Gallop (10) being the. principal contributors. In this innings Jones took 6 wickets for 23, and Edwards and Pollock divided the other four at a small cost. On going in to bat a second time, Y.M.C.A. scored 35 for 5 wickets, Pollock (14 not out) and Brown. (12). Y.M.C.A. thus obtained .a 3-point win. " ,
ALHAMBRA v. WANDERERS. The above teams also met at the-Do-main, and Wanderers secured a 2-point win just on-the call of time, only one innings each being played. Wanderers batted first and showed greatly improved form in scoring 94 runs before the last wicket fell. Tonks (31), Owen (27), and Smith (13) were the chief scorers. West bowled best for Alhambra, talcing 6 wickets for 16 runs, and Sim, Atkinson, and Watson also obtained wickets. Alhambra on going in to bat were all disposed of for 58 runs, the last ball of the match taking the last batsman’s wicket, amidst great enthusiasm amongst the Wanderers’ supporters. Sim (13) and Pa a lea Turei (10) were the principal scorers, the wickets being equally divided between Smith and Owen. AUCKLAND MATCHES. [Pan Unless Association.! AUCKLAND, Nov. 14. The third round of the Auckland Cricket Association’s district championship was commenced yesterday in fine weather, excepting for a slight shower which fell, and thus kept up the continuity of Saturdays on which rain has fallen. The result of the senior grade play was as follows:—North Shore v. University : North Shore first innings 112 (Basil 23, Kallender 23). Taylor took 4 wickets for 23 .runs. Second innings 41 runs for 2 wickets (Kallender 22). University first iniiin°*s 50. Howden took 0 wickets for 2S runs, and Hadden 3 f0r.22. Eden v. Ponsonby: Eden first innings 208 for 7 wickets (Cumming 69, Relf 66, G Mills 37). Parnell v. Grafton: Parnell first innings' 99 (Oliff 24, Jackson 22 Caro 21). Mason took 6 wickets for 37 runs; and Gnllett 4 for 20. Grafton first innings 126 for 7 wickets (Mason 61, S. P. Jones 31 not out). Oliff took 4 wickets for 52 runs. CHRLSTCHURCII MATCHES. CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 13. The second round of the cricket oompetiton, first grade, was concluded today. The following are the results: St. * Albans 138 and 168, boat! East Christchurch 109. West Christchurch 327 fov 5 wickets (innings closed) (M. 11. Lusk 100, D. Reese 157),. beat Riccarton 103 and 241 for S wickets (E. R. Caygill 83. F. C. Fryer 51). Sydenham 135 and 221 for 7 wickets (W. Patrick not out 106), heat Linwood 91. DUNEDIN MATCHES. , DUNEDIN, Nov. 14. The cricket matches were continued on Saturday in splendid weather. Carisbrook secured- a 4-point win over Opoho. The former made 95 in the first innings, and closed their second with 5 wickets down for 207 (Siecleberg 60, Usher 59, Barron 39.) Opoho put on S 8 in the first innings and 159 in the second, batting one man .short (Garham 36. Higgins 30). Grange defeated Carisbrook A by 4 wickets. The former made 147 in the first innings and 103 for 6 wickets in the second (Johnston 33). Carishrook’s first innings realised 89, and their second 170 (Rutherford 55, Bannerman 3S). Albion heat Dunedin by 1 wicket and 6 runs. The winners made 12S and 147 for 9 wickets (Williams 23). while Dunedin compiled SI and 17S (Wilkie 55, Wilson 52).

TARU1IERU. This match was continued at Taruhern on Saturday. On the previous Saturday Y.M.C.A. scored 94 and Taruheru 72 for 9 wickets. On Saturday Taruheru resumed their first innings, but the last wicket fell with only 3 runs added, giving Y.M.C.A. a . lead of 19 on tlie first innings. In their second venture Y.M.C.A. fared rather disastrously against the bowling of Charles and Sharpies, and were all dismissed for the small score of 39, and Taruheru, for the loss of 7 wickets, wiped off the deficiency and obtained a 3-ooint win.
