NEW YORK, Nov. 21
The United States Circuit Court of Appeal has ordered the Standard Oil Company of New Jersey to be dissolved, as an ’ illegal corporation. The Government’s action was directed against the -parent organisation and 70 subsidiary branches for conspiracy, monopoly, and restraining trade in several States. The Court also enjoins the defendant companies from paying dividends to the Standard Oil Company of New Jersey on such stock, or permitting any combination vote on such stock. The case goes ip the United States Supreme Court. The charges against 33 branches were dismissed. The judgment led to a selling movement on the New York Exchange, and Standard Oil certificates declined 12$ points. Reuter’s correspondent states that this is one of the most important and far-reachng decisions given in a civil action in' American Courts.
