SENIOR COMPETITION.

SATURDAY’S MATCHES

The Saturday championship matches were continued at the Domain and Taruheru on Saturday. At the former ground the game was between Wanderers and Y.M.C.A. and at Taruheru United tried conclusions with Taruheru. The weather was dull and rain commenced to fall about 4 p.m. spoiling the play. \WANDERERS v. Y.M.C.A. Wanderers had a strong team in the field hut’Y.M.C.A. were poorly represented only eight of their players being present. They batted firsts but were all out for the small total of 53 runs. Wanderers, on going to the wickets had lost four of their batsmen for 81 runs when play was stopped by the rain. The following are the detailed scores: —

These teams met. for the first time in the Saturday competition at Taruheru on Saturday afternoon. Taruheru won the toss and batted. The wicket was easy after Friday night’s rain, but the Taruheru batsmen faded to take advantage of their opportunity, and were all dismissed in their first innings for the poor total of 6/ runs. Sharpies was the only batsman who performed creditably, and played good cricket in compiling his score of 21, not out. Lasker and Dillon were the only other batsmen to register double figure scores. The two left-handers, Grenfell and Farrell, bowled unchanged for United, and both secured good figures. United, at call of time, had scored 127 for seven wickets. A. Lang, W. Gibson, Scrcggie, and Farrell were the principal run-getters. Lieut.-Lo-lonel Winter and Mr Mawhmney were the umpires. The scores were as follow :

JUNIOR COMPETITION.

ALHAMBRA v. UNITED

The result of the match between these teams was' a victory for Alhambra by 19 runs on the first innings. United batted: first, but were all disposed of for 19 runs, to the bowling of \V atson and Sims. Clarke (5) and McLeod (o) were the top scorers for United. Watson secured 7 wickets for 10 runs, and Sims 2 for 2. Alhambra om going in to bat, registered a score of do. Mr. “Extras” was the principal contributor to the total with 10. Rigby obtained 7 wickets for 10 runs, and Gatland o for 12. On going in a .second time, United fared much better, and when play was stopped by the ram had scored 58 for 9 wickets. . Y.M.C.A. V. WANDERERS

The above teams met at Victoria Domainon Saturday afternoon. Y.M.C.A. had the first strike, but fared badly against the bowling of Muldoon (three for 9), Smith (four for 5), and 0 Donnell (one for 2). Tlhe total only reached 18, with two men short, Burnside (8) being top-scorer. Wanderers did little better on going to the wickets, and were all dismissed for 22 runs by Jones and Munro. Y.M.C.A. made 23 in. their second essa'v. Owen (fiye • for 6), and Smith (four for 11) doing great execution with the ball. Requiring 20 to winWanderers hit off the runs for the loss

AUCKLAND MATCHES

[Pick J’upihs Association.] AUCKLAND, Nov. 21. The third round of the' Auckland Cricket Association's district championship matches was concluded yesterday in fine weather, but on wickets which favored the bowlers. , The senior grade matches resulted as follows North Shore v. University: North Shore first innings’ll2. second innings 129 (Kallinder 22, Coleman 30). Taylor took five wickets for 35 runs, and Fenwick 3 for-' 21.- University first innings 50, second innings 54 (Taylor 20). Hbwden took 6 wickets for 27 runs, and W. Bush 3 for 9. North Shore won by 137 runs—a 3-point win. Eden v. Pon. sonby: Eden first innings (concluded) 228. Woods took 5 wickets for 56 runs. Ponsonby first innings 121 (A. Young 41, Holson 23). Relf took four wickets for 47 runs, and Mills 5 for 46. Eden won on the first innings’ scores by 107 runs —a 2ipoint win. . Parnell v. Grafton: Parnell first innings 99, second 1 innings 127 (E. Sale 37). Grafton first innings (concluded) 141 (S. P. Jones not out 31), second innings 31 for seven wickets. Oliff took 4 wickets for 14 runs. Grafton won on the first innings’ scores by 42 runs —a 2-point win.

DUNEDIN MATCHES

DUNEDIN, Nov. 21. The cricket matches were continued yesterday in fine, but cold weather. In the match Carisbrook A v. Carisbrook B, the 'latter were disposed of for 149 (iSiedeberg 67). The former made 157 for 5 wickets (Bannernmn 61 Rutherford 36 not out). Albion disposed of Opoho for 58 runs, Wordsworth taking 5 wickets for 25 runs, and Cummings 5 for 22. Albion made 210 (McFarlane 65, Drake 38). Dunedin met Grange, and compiled 70 in the first innings (Wilson $1). Losing five wickets for 17 runs in the .second innings. Grange made 48 _in the first innings, Mackersey capturing 4 wickets for 21, and Torrance 5 for 23.
