TURANGANUI CLUB

At the Turanganui Bowling Club’s green yesterday afternoon two match games were played, the results being—.—Bennett Cup.— B. Hird 19 beat W. H. Douglas 13. — This game was of an interesting character, but was in Hird’s favor through, out, he being 7 to 5 on the 9th head, 1 and 16 to 10 on the 17th head. On the remaining heads each player scored three points,'Douglas thus suffering defeat by six points. —Challenge Walking Stick.— W. Rateliffe (challenger) 6 beat E. Lewis (holder) 2.-—This game was full of interest, good play being exhibited. Rateliffe led off with a . couple, and Lewis replied with two singles—2 all on the 3rd head. On the 4th head llatcliffe obtained a pair. The sth head was full of nlay. Lewis lay two, but Rateliffe with a lovely bowl carried'the jack and lay two. Lewis saved one with his last bowl. Requiring three to tie, Lewis put in his first two, but Ratcliffe with his third carried the jack and lay two. Lewis put up a good drive with his last bowl, but Ratcliffe’s shot bowl followed through and scored one. Rateliffe now becomes the holder of the stick. W. H. Douglas has issued a challenge to W. Rateliffe to defend his newly-won trophy.
