POVERTY BAY CLUB. The semi-final between A. Kirk’s crew and J. Newton’s, for Mr. Cox’s trophies, which resulted in a tie on Thursday evening, was re-rowed last evening'in wet and windy weather. Coming round the Point, Ivirk, rowing slightly faster, had a slight advantage, and at the bridge was a clean length to the good. Half-way down the straight Newton reduced this t-o about half-a-length, then Kirk drew out again and won comfortably by a length and a-half. The final in the B grade for Mr. Morse’s trophies, whiph was won by Cowan’s crew on Thursday evening, but for which a protest was put in by Coleman owing to a foul, has been awarded to Cowan. The committee decided not to uphold the protest as L>*. • the judge (Mr. W. Johnston) holds that from the time the- crews came in sight nothing occurred' to effect the issue of the race.
