[ Pin* Pukes GREYMOUTH. Nov. 27. There are no alterations in regard to the strike. ' It is announced that the Paparoa negotiations are well under way, and that an amicabie agreement will be arrived at.
DISQUIETING RUMORS IN CHRISTCHURCH.
CHRISTCHURCH. Nov. 27
Several coal merchants met this mor. ning, and in view cf the fact that stocks are beginning to run short, decided to increase the price of Newcastle coal by 3s per ton.' It was explained that this was done with a view to dice!: orders with which the merchants have been rushed. The State coal is not affected by the increase. There are still rumors in the city that there is likely to be a general strike in New Zealand next week, but ther© is no definite news available.
A telegram from the manager at Blackball says that things are quiet. There is no ill-feeling with the men.
