DRUNKENNESS
A first offender was convicted and fined the customary amount of 5s and costs, and Geo. Wines for a second offence, was penalised to the extent of 10s and,costs, or 48 horn's’ imprisonment.
, ALLEGED VAGRANCY
A tall young man named Charles Armstrong was charged with being an idle and disorderly person in that ho had no lawful visible means of support. In asking for a remand Sergt. Hutton explained that late on Saturday night Armstrong was discovered wandering about the town in a partial state of. undress. His demeanour was most peculiar, and it- had been deemed wise' to apprehend him. A remand would enable accused to be kept under observation for a few days. Accused offered’ no objection, and a remand until Friday was granted.
