ART GURIO AND INDUSTRIAL EXHIBITION.
MEETINGS OF COMMITTEES
v Large and enthusiastic, meetings of the various committees were held last night, and the Executive subsequently met witih the organiser (Mr. Preston) as chairman. Good progress was reported, and many detail matters carefuly gone into and finalised. It was arranged that during the currency of the Exhibition the Fire Brigade would have some members and a hydrant available. A watchman was also arranged for. Messrs Clayton Bros, are supplying the necessary <timber for show cases and fittings,' and Mr. James Moit-ison the glass required. , :• The Maoris are well advanced with their exhibits, and it was decided to telegraph to the Hon.. James Carroll with reference to the loan of defence exhibits already applied for.' The section for ladies’: fancy work was arranged for, and classes for competition .and exhibition provided. The details of these will he advertised. The Exhibition, which is to open on Wednesday week, promises to be a grand success, and it is confidently hoped to raise the money required for the new instruments on account of the Citv Band, i : .. . • i Mr. W. Miller has the advertising arrangements well in hand. The posters and calico streamers are nearly ready for display. .
