[Per Press'. Association."} ' AUCKLAND, Nov. 29. A case of some interest, inasmuch as such cases are infrequent, was hoard before Mr. C,VC. Kettle, S.M., to-day. Daniel Baxter, a fisherman bv occupation, formerly of Opotiki, hut now of Mercury Bay, being charged on the complaint of Michael Maher that, on December 4, 1908. lie made a false declaration under the Land "Act, 1908. The complaint was in connection with a declaration 'by Baxter to, the'.effect, that lie had effected improvements and cultivations t,o a certain piece of land to the extent of £1.65, and that he had been a. resident of the land in question from about January 15, ISOS, to June 30; 190 S. • After evidence bad been taken,,'the accused was committed for trial, bail being allowed. a. .....
