HEAVY CALENDAR AT BLENHEIM'
tl’icn ritKHK Association. \ BLENHEIM, Dec. 1. The Supremo Court sittings opened this morning before Mr. Justice Denniston. The palander Avas an unusually heavy one, comprising seven charges, including two of indecent assault (one Blenheim case and one from Seddon), one each of arson, unnatural offence, and abortion (Picton), a case of breaking and entering (Picton), and a charge of assault ond robbery against three young men. His Honor, charging the Grand Jury, said the calendar was much longer ‘than usual for the district, but although the length was greater and some charges were of a serious order, vet thev were not of a serious nature of the class. True bills ivere returned against Ellen Thompson (alleged abortion), and Begnard McKenna, Charles Osgood, and Geo. Higgs, alleged assault and robbery. I AUCKLAND CASES. AUCKLAND, Dec. 1. At the Supreme Court Augustus Hunter Wheatley, who pleaded guilty in the lower Court to theft of jeAvellery from postal packets at Taumarunui was sentenced to two years’ imprisonment, the Judge remarking that correspondence was sacred. Thomas Henry Massocks, for breaking and entering at IngleAvnod, received a sentence of three years’ imprisonment. CRIMINAL CASES AT WELLINGTON WELLINGTON, Dec. 1. On a charge of theft EdAvan Cox Ayas to-dav sentenced to three months’ im ; , prisonment. John Riley, charged with forgery, Avas sentenced to six months.
