THE QUESTION OF PRESS MONOPOLY. (Special to “Times.”) WELLINGTON, Dec.. 1. Mr. Hunan, to-day asked the Premier whether he will favorably consider the setting up of a'special committee next session to inquire into and .report on the following questions: (1) Whetlie there is an undesirable press monopoly or trust in New Zealand, as is alleged, and if so, has its creation been assisted by concessions made in the way ot reduced telegraph and cable rates and py copyright privileges granted in respect to newspaper cable., messages, ana .U whether the return, the oountry is ge ting for such concessions and privileges is |ati s factory ? replied; up intended to set up a Select Committee to inquire generally into the -position of country--newspapers as regards telegraphic privileges, but the pressure of sessional business has so far prevented this being done.” ■ PURE SEEDS. The Premier to-day stated that the question of pure seeds is engaging the attention of the Government, and legislation will next session J)o introduced into Parliament dealing with the mat- - - . _■■
