CYCLING

WHATAUPOKO-WAIOHIKA ROAD ' RACE.

A road race, between C. Taylor’s store, Whataupoko, and Bruce’s, Waiohika, took place last evening under tho auspices of the Yvhataupoko Cycling Club, the distance being about-10 miles. Messrs H. Anderson and W. Howard acted as- starters and judges. -The'fol-lowing-was the result: F. Mawliinney (scr) I, S. Whitehead (sex*) 2, L: Wilkinson (60seo) 3. Time, 39min 24sec. J: Aston (lOsec) also started. The finish was very exciting, Mawhinnev only winning by inches. Aston, the unplaced man, came to grief, through colliding with, a bull.
