LONDON WOOL MARKET
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. were yesterday in receipt of the following cablegram from their London office re wool: —“Wool sales: 97,0CX) bales sold at wool sales, 48,000 bales for Continent, with good competition, 4500 bales for America. Average current London values of the undernoted descriptions of New Zealand greasy wool: Good merino 14d, medium do ll}d, inferior do 9}d, fine crossbred 15d, medium do 13}, coarse do (40’s) 9sd, coarse do (36’s) 9d. As compared with last sales’ closing rates prices are about 5 per cent, higher for Jambs, medium greasy crossbred, coarse greasy crossbred, scoured crossbred, and fine crossbred slipe; about 5 to 7} per cent, higher for coarse crossbred slipe and medium crossbred slipe ; about the same for scoured merino super and fine greasy crossbred; and about 5 per cent .lower for merino ' medium and inferior, scoured merino lambs super, greasy merino super, and greasy merino.” WOOL SALES.
