MAN’S BRUTAL ACTION.
ATTACKS A WOMAN WITH A KNIFE.
ITer Press Association.! WELLINGTON. Dec. 4. The police have received information of an assault on a woman, which' occurred on Tuesday, the result being the arrest of a man named Davi Bates. It is alleged that Bates attacked a woman named Mrs Sheehan with, a, table knife, inflicting two wounds on one of her thighs, also causing bruises on several parts of her body, and blackening her eyes. The knife is said to have been broken in the affray .u • Sheehan is now in the hospital Another woman who intervened is said to have been also struck several blows.
