GISBORNE RIFLES.

WEEK-END CAMP. The Aveek-end camp of the Gisborne Rifles, to be held at Tuamoto Island to-day and to-morrow, promises to be a great success, Lieut.-Colonel Rislop, officer commanding the battalion, arrives this morning to attend the camp, and Avill inspect the corps. At the parade held last eA'oning there Avas a verygood attendance, and all arrangements were made. The following is the scheme of Avork to be carried out, and the orders in connection therewith :—lnformation Avas received at 1 p.m. on 11th December. 1909, from Tuahine lighthouse, that a hostile cruiser Avas lying off Tuamoto Island, and Avas preparing to land a force on or near the island. In consequence of the above information, the Gisborne Rifles Avill proceed Avith all baste, via Wainui Road and Papawliaraki Valley, to a suitable position, and take steps to Oppose the landing and, if possible, drive the enemy off, or check his advance. The marching orders by Captain Beere are as follows: —Hie Gisborne Rifles will parade for the above purpose at the Garrison Hall at 2.1.0 p.m. on the lltli inst., in marching order. All baggage must he at the orderly room by 2 p.m. on the lltli inst. Men Avill require to provide themselves with all camp equipment, including the folloAving articles: Waterproof sheet, blankets, overcoat, toilet requisites, plate, mug, knife, fork, and spoon. Kit bags and haversacks may he obtained from the Q.-M. Sergeant. An advance and baggage guard to bo detailed. The Company avl.ll remain in camp until to-morrow afternoon. Avlien camp will -be struck and the Company return to town. '
