GISBORNE CLUB. The opening of the new pavilion of the Gisborne Bowling Club is to be celebrated dn Thursday afternoon, with a three-rink match between the Gisborne and - : Turanganui Clubs. lh© team to represent tho latter has already been published, as kave the names of the rink picked by Mr. UpSimson, one of the skips for the Gisborne Club. The other two. skips have selected their rinks as follows: Robertson, Mackintosh, Craig, 1 oxford (skip); Ambridge, Corson, Eure, 1. A. Crawford (skip). . , The match is to begin at 2 p.m., and at 3 p.m. there will be an interval lor the opening ceremony. Invitations are being sent to prominent citizens, and a general invitation is extended to all bowlers. Members wishing to have invitations for their friends may obtain them from the secretary. Arrangements will, be made to give all visiting bowlers a game during the alter noon. The personnel of the team to represent the Club at the Northern Bowling Association’s tournament is not yet certainly known, but it is understood that it will probably consist of Robertson, Craig, Ejufe, and Pqnsford. There is, besides, a possibility of other teams from the club - Attending the tournament, as undqy the present rules of the Association, any four members of tho club may combine to form a rink to take part in the inter-club matches. NORTHERN BOWLING ASSOCIATION’S TOURNAMENT. Tho following teams have been handed in to the secretary of the Turanganui Club as participants in the Northern Bowling Association’s tournament, 1 which commences at Wellington on Monday, January 10th, 1910: Club rink: B. Hird, M. G. Nasmith junr v A. Sawyer, J. J. Martin (skip). Pairs Matches: B. Hird and J. J. Martin (skip), A. Sawyer and M. G. Nasmith junr. (skip). The club rink matches are to be played, if possible, each rink against each rink until concluded, the scores to bo by wins. Should there be more than sixteen clubs represented they are to be divided into two or more sections to play to a. finish, winners of each section playing in the final, and the winner of'this final will be declared the winner of the’ Club rink matches —this at the discretion of the Tournament Committee. Winners of sections 'in the Club rink matches will be unable to enter for the pairs. The Pairs matches are to be'divided into two or more sections, and played on any rink available for the purjiose, on the same lines as the Club rink matches.
