THE WEATHER

The following ■- is the Roc. D. C. Bates’ summary and forecast: The southerly winds in the rear of the disturbance which passed eastward last evening caused beneficial rains during the night in several parts, particularly on flie southern and eastern parts of the North Island. Westerly winds have prevailed in the north,, but the southerlies in the south are now changing to northerlies. The present indications are for a falling barometer everywhere, freshening northerlies and unsettled and cloudy weather for a few I days: Rain probable shortly on the west coast and the southern districts of the South Island.
