Complaint is made that a Maori to'hunga and his -wife, said to belong to 'the Wairarapa, are at'their .trade in the Wanganu i district;, extorting large 'sums of money from natives, and'preventing .them .from, working by assuring them that they are too ill to do so. The pair attempted.to land at'Ranana, on tne Wanganui River, but the Maori 'Council there would not permit them 'to do so.
