MASONIC INSTALLATION.

PRESENTATION OF P.M. JEWELS.

The annua] installation and investK' ture of officers of Lodge Montrose, No. 722, S.C., was held in the Masonic , Hall, Childers Road, last evening. There was a very large attendance of, members and visiting brethren presided over by R.W. Bro. McCullough, D.G.M., who" was ably assisted by Bro|| Thos. Ellery as installing Master. The presenting officers were Bro. C. H. Am-] bridge, W.M. of Lodge Turanganuhj and Bror A. T. Hookey, of Lodge Abercorn, while the director of cere-: monies was W. Bro. Beere, P.M. The following are the officers for the ensuing year:—R.W.M., Bro. W. G. ner; 1.P.M., Bro. T. Ellery; D-M.jjl Bro. A. Kirk; S.W., Bro. J. Morrison; J.W., Bro. D. McKeague: Chaplain, Bro. R. N. Sandlant. 3 making the presentation, the D.G.M Bro. McCullough, referred in eulogi tic terms to the advance made in Fre masonry by Bros. Kirk and Sandlan and trusted that they would live lor to wear the handsome jewels which 1 now handed to them. The recipien suitably replied. After a collection r the Widows and Orphans’ Grand Lodj Fund had been made, and diplom presented to Bros. Smith, Burdeti ai Somervell, the lodge was closed in t usual way. , • An adjournment Avas then made j the lower hall, where the membe spent a social hour. The foliowh toast-list was gone through: “The Ki and the Craft,” proposed by t R.W.M.; “The Grand Lodge of So land,” R.W.M.. and responded to f Bro. McCullough; “Sister Grand L. ges,” D.D.G.M. Bro. R. N. Jones, ; sponded to by Bros. Sheet (Englai and A. F. Kennedy (New Zealand), proposing tlie toast of the “Right W shipful Master,” Bro. T. Ellery o gratulated the brethren of Lodge M trose on the, choice they had made, i he was sure nothing would be want.' on Bro. Bremner's part to_ fulfil high office with honor to himself i the lodge to which it was now his di to rule. Bro. Bremner feelingly plied to the toast, assuring the m* hers that nothing would be wanting his part to fulfil the duties of the h office. “Sister Lodges” was prop< by Bro. Wliinray, and responded to Tiros. Ambridge and Hookey ;“I.P.A by the R.W.M., and responded to Bro. Ellery; “The Visitors,” by P Bro. Beere, and responses made j P.M.’s Smith and Hutton and B Gough and Thothas; “Newly Invei Officers,” by Bro. Sandlant, P.M.» plied to by Bros. Morrison and HcT gue; “The Ladies,” by Bro. A. K replied to by Bro. Somervell. The chestra was under the charge of J Barlow. jfjgl Songs were contributed by B Cowlrick, H. J. Grieve, A. T. Hooi and Barlow, recitations by Bros, .a Kennedy (encored) and B. Hirdij|| Sidebottom in his usual efficient ner acted as accompanist. The catering for the banquet wa the capable hands of Bro. S. Woot and the manner in which he Bupj tho wants of those present left not to be desired. A very' pleasant) profitable evening was brought l close by the singing of “£uld . J Syne.”- !
