MAT AAV HERO STOCK SALES.
There was a good attendance at the fortnightly stock sales yesterday, considering that shearing operations are "eneral throughout the district. Uie high prices ruling at the last two sales was responsible for a very large CT 'tiy of cattle, 2220 being offered by the various firms. Prices showed a substantia] decrease, young stock tailing about 5s per head ami big cattle 10s per head on prices realised at the previous sale. Mr. J. Sunderland, of Hawke’s Bay, was a large buyer fat cattle. There was.not a. keen demand for fat sheep, though the entry was fairly heavy, while on the other hand fat beef found ready purchasers. About 4000 were yarded, and the following prices were realised: 13 ewes in forward condition 12s 2d, 300 2-f.°°Jh wethers 9s 78 forward ewes 6s 2d, 50 ditto 7s 2d, 35 lambs 8 S 9d, 112 small two-tootlis 7s 4d, 138 .2 and 4-tooth 6\vcs 10s 6d, 67 -ewes -with. 65 lambs 6s 7(1, 55 ewes with lambs 10s Id. 58 woolly ewes 9s 6d, 58 ditto 9s 3d, 2o ewes with 30 good lambs 13s, 240 ewes 8s 6d, 28 fnt and forward eiyes and wetliers 9s, 367 2-tooth ewes and wethers 10s, 233 2-tooth ewes 10s 3d, 86 woolly ewes with lambs 14s od. CATTLE.

There was only a small number forward. Porkers realised from £1 2s to £1 4s, and baconers sold at £1 11s.
