BOYS BEFORE THE COURT.

A sequel to the. recent Chnstchurcii robberies was the appearance of W® small lads named' Thomas Brosnahan and Cecil Herbert Jeffries, before Mr. B. Bailey, S.M.. at the Police Court, on two charges of breaking arid entering churches. In answer to the Magistrate Brosnahan stated that he was lo years of age, and Jeffries stated tbat he was 18. Both boys looked younger than their .age. ; . The first charge/was that on or about November,:7thr they did. enter Phillipstowfi Anglican Church with the intent'to commit A crime,: and the second charge was that they entered the Roman Catholic Cathedral On or. about November 11th, and stole therefrom a sum of £3. ~ Chief-Detective Bishop applied for a remand "as there were other charges pending. The Magistrate remanded accused for a week, and ordered them to be kept separate from other prisoners. The boys were arrested on JVlond/ay a|t> Molesworth station, some 40 miles past Hanmer, by Detectives Ward and Gibson, who only arrived in town with their, charges oil Thursday night. Both boys were residents of Christchurch. ;
