FIGHTING FOR HIS MONEY

The corpse of King Leopold was taken to the Pavilion des Palmiers, Lacken, and thence to the Palace at Brussels by night, torchlights being carried by a mounted regiment of guides. Prince Albert, with generals of the army and the Garde Civique, acompanied the hearse. Enormous crowds filed past the coffin as the body. was lying in state in the Palace on Sunday. The newspapers state that Princess Louise’s lawyers have given notice to the principal banks that she opposes payment of deposits held in the names of King Leopold and Baroness Vaughan, his morganatic wife. The Court refused Princess Louise’s demand that seals should be placed on the rooms in Baroness Vaughan’s house.
