It was decided to erect a marquee ',0,1 the ground, and to have luncheon therein each day. It was resolved to invite Lieut.-Colonel Winter and Mr. |? W. E. Goffe to act as umpires. It was arranged that a match should he played on Boxing Day between the representative eleven _ a second P-j eleven on the turf wicket at Victoria Domain. . The selector, Mr. W. HAWKE’S BAY v. POVERTY BAY
' A telegram was received yesterday by Mr. H. B. Lusk from the hon. secretary of the Hawke’s Bay Cricket Association stating that Friday and Saturday, December 31st and January Ist, had been fixed upon as the dates . for the match with Poverty Bay at 'Gisborne. H. B. Lusk will be unable to play for Hawke’s Bay, as it-is his intention to journey south in order to see the, Canter bury-Wellington representative fixature at Wellington. His place in the team will he filled by J. A. Maccassey, the well-known United player, who is a sound left-handed batsman and a- fast right-handed bowler. A TEACHERS’ MATCH.. [Pint I’uksh Association.! WELLINGTON. Dec. 23. A New South Wales teachers’ team row visiting New Zealand defeated Wellington at cricket to-day by 104 runs on the first innings. New South Wales made 270. and Wellington 166. For the visitors Rose made 158, Hurst 34, and Elston 22.
