BOWLING.
GISBORNE CLUB. The -weather yesterday afternoon was the reverse of favorable for bowling, but a few enthusiasts of the Gisborne Club ventured on the green and ;played several heads in an ordinary game, which was left unfinished on account of the rain. A match in the first round of the handicap pairs was played, as one of the contestants had to leave town last night. The players and scores in this were as follows: Johnstone and Kyme (9) 35, beat R. G. Crawford and Dodd (7) 2-0. —The losers scored a single on the first head, but in the next five the winners put on eleven points, and the strong lead thus gained was never lost, though Crawford and Dodd put up a dozen points, on five heads. The game was decided on twenty heads. TURANGANUI CLUB. Given fine weather, the members of the Turanganui Club intend to indulge freely in their favored pastime during the Christmas holidays. The competition for the Bennett Cup will be continued, and the second round 1 in the Handicap Pairs are to be completed by Boxing Day. The matches for the Pennant Fours are to be commenced to-morrow, and the first round is to he completed by. Monday. It is probable that a -match between the team representing the club at the Wellington tournament>and a challenge rink will also be played during the holidays. Arrangements have been made for afternoon tea to he provided on both Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
