FATAL BRANDY DRINKING. Uni'ep I’uuss Association —C’cit’vnioiiT. LONDON, Dec. 23. Four laborers, working in a cellar of a hotel, at Wigram, broached" a brandy cask. All are dead from the effects of drinking the spirits. PTOMAINE POISONING IN INDIA. The “Chronicle’s” correspondent at Calcutta reports that five of the Viceroy's staff and nine servants have been poisoned, it is supposed by ptomaines in the milk. Later reports are that the victims are recovering. STEEL TRUST BONUS. NEW YORK, Dec., 25. The United Steel Trust is distributing a bonus of two million dollars amongst its employees, 60 per cent, in cash and 40 per cent, in stock. DUNEDIN HIGH SCHOOL AND EDINBURGH. LONDON, Dec. 25. MUTINIES OF FRENCH CONVICTS PARIS, Dec. 25. The “Matin” states that there have been several recent mutinies at Devil’s Island. A number of convicts who were rowing a doctor and four warders mutinied and threw overboard the officers, who were drowned. The mutineers were re-captured. CHRISTMAS IN THE OLD LAND.
