A blizzard was experienced in New York yesterday, there bev.g snow a foot deep in the city and 4ft drift in places outside. It was the worst snowstorm and blizzard experienced in the Eastern States for 20 years. > The railway, telephone, and telegraph services of New York are paralysed. Tens of thousands of belated suburbanites were forced to walk home through the snowdrift on Christmas night. MANY DEATHS REPORTED. (Received December 28, 9.10 p.m.) NEW YORK, Dec. 28. Eighteen deaths occurred through -the blizzard in the vicinity of New York. Many vessels were driven ashore. A with 12 lives, was lost off ‘Boston. A TIDAL WAVE. Fifteen hundred people have been ;rendered homeless at Chelsea, Massa- • chusetts. owing to a tidal -wave.
