POVERTY BAY CLUB. It has been decided definitely to postpone the double scull races for the Grieve medals till January 18th. All the crews are in strong training, and some \ r ery good races are anticipated, the creivs being Avell chosen. This arrangement is very satisfactory to the young oarsmen, giving them ample time in Avhich to train. THE WANGANUI CONTEST. I Per Press Association.!. WANGANUI, Jan. 2. Interest is now being taken in, the training operations of the contestants in the Sculling Handicap on Thursday and. Saturday next. All the scullers are out on tlie river tAvico daily, and ■seem to be in good nick, and express themsehes as feeling Avell. Arnst is expected to arrive from tlie South on Monday afternoon. He will train from the Union Boat Club’s shed, and his appearances on the river are sure to be eagerly Avatched. Webb is training from his own shed at Aramolio, and consequently is seen a great deal on the lower reaches. He is reported to be not feeling his best, though ho is expected to put up a good race. TV belch will not start, as-he lias just entered on a grass-seeding contract.
