THE CHAMPION TOURNEY. [Per Press Association.l AUCKLAND, Jan. 1. The sixth round of the chess championship was concluded this morning, and two adjourned games were played off besides. Freeman lost to Barnes, and Sainsbury to Mason. Grierson beat James. Tlie game between Severene and ■ Rutherford was drawn. Miles beat Kelling. The game between Davies and Hicks was _ adjourned in Hick’s favor. In the adjourned games James lost to Mason. Barnes and Grierson still lead with five wins and one loss each. AUCKLAND, Jan. 2. All the outstanding games in the chess championship were played on Saturday evening. Kelling lost to James, and Davies to Hicks. (
