The largest congregation that ever assembled at St. Michael’s Church was present on Sunday evening, when Archdeacon Averill, who has been appointed Bishop of Waiapu, preached a farewell sermon to his congregation. Every inch of the space was occupied, chairs and forms being brought intoi requisition The Archdeacon gave a very eloquent sermon, in which the work of the last sixteen years was referred to. The preacher expressed thanks for the loyal assistance given by the people, and rejoiced in the many evidences of living Christianity amongst the congregations. He was'sorry to relinquish the work of sick visitation, especially at the hospital, which, to him, had been almost like a home.
