The French barque Mareschal De Turenne, from New York, encountered •a severe gale on December 28th. Huge seas swept the decks, and one carried Captain Perrott and the third officer overboard. The latter had taken the precaution to lash himself to a post, and was hauled aboard. Captain Perrott was not missed for a quarter of an hour, and was not again seen. Ho was .married a month before leaving New York. A few days after starting on the voyage the barque, in a fog at midnight, collided with hn unknown vessel, receiving a slanting blow to starboard above the waterline, and causing considerable damage to the other vessel, which continued her voyage, and was not seen again.
