To-day’s quotations are : Mutton, Napier, Wellington, and North Island, 33d. NAPIER’S THIRD WOOL SALE. NAPIER, Jan. 6. The third Napier wool sale of the sea. son was held this afternoon find evening, when a total of 21,000 bales was offered by the associated brokers, winch is. oas% a record offering for this centre. A bigger attendance of buyers than usual was present, all sections of trade being represented. The wool generally was well grown, but considerably heavier in grease as compared with previous sales, and there was an absence of light conditioned and superior quality clips suitable for America. A few of the clips, owing to weather conditions prolonging the shearing, were caught by the “biddy-biddy,” and this considerably detracted from tlie value of such wool. A larger proportion than usual of cotted fleeces was also in evidence, this being generally ascribed to the wot weather experienced throughout the province. A fair quantity of lambs’ wool came forward and. was generally of good quality, although seed was again responsible for a lowering in values in some lots.

Competition was exceedingly 'keen from all quarters. One of the features of the sale was the excellent competition for lambs’ -wool and pieces of various qualities, the Continent taking nearly all this class of wool. The few lots of light-conditioned wool, suitable for America, were readily taken up nt prices on a par with tlie previous sale. Some medium crossbreds aid not maintain their late, values. Strong crossbreds, including logstained, met with an excellent demand, and on the average were slightly higher than at last sale.
