NEW ZEALAND EGGS IN LONDON.
A SUCCESSFUL SHIPMENT
[Pica Press Association.! CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 12
In October of last year Mr J. B. Merrett, of Christchurch, forwarded a shipment of 14,000 eggs to London, and particulars of the returns just to hand are most gratifying. He adopted the method of preserving the eggs on the French system of “vaporising” them in a machine, and it proved eminently satisfactory. The eggs were landed in excellent condition without a single breakage and sold at Is Id a dozen in the open market. There is, lie savs, an unlimited demand for eggs in London during November, December and January, and this is fortunate for New Zealand, ..where eggs are most plentiful in August, September and October. Mr Merrett intends to make further shipments by the Corinthic this month.
