THE FLOURMILLER’S ASSOCIATION.
PROPOSAL FOR LIQUIDATION
[Pish Press Association.! CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 12. Meetings of the Ncav Zealand Flourmillers’ Association Avere held yesterday and to-day ,re a proposal to go into voluntary liquidation. No official information is available, but it is generally understood- that during the early part of the proceedings there was a feeling that it might be desirable and- advisable for the Association to temporarily suspend l its operations as an association, but that later, after the matter had been- discussed at some length, this feeling underwent a! change and that uoav the opinion of most, of the members is in favor o£ the continuance of the Association. A return to the state of affairs that existed prior to the formation of the Association does not, it is reported, commend itself to those who appreciate the benefits that have accrued to millers since the Association has been in existence. There aro largo millers at present outside the Association .and the fear of unrestricted competition from these people caused the members of the Association to hesitate as to reneAving the agreement. Nothing definite has been done yet, b'ut the probabilities are that the agreement, Avhibh falls in at the end of February, Avill be reneAved for a period of seven years.
