AN IMPUDENT THEFT
A GISBORNE BOWLER ROBBED.
(Special to “Times.”) WELLINGTON, Jan. 13. For the last two days Mr Ben Hird has been on tenterhooks through the loss of a pair of bowls and bag. He was staying at the Hotel Bristol, together with the other Turanganuis, and on Wednesday morning deposited his bowls as usual on the lounge inside the entrance hall, while breakfasting. On rising lie missed Ills property and it was at first thought a joke ind been played on him, but such not proving tlie case, it was conjectured that a bowler had taken them by mistake. On them not being returned in the’ evening a serious iaspectf- was put on the matter and the police were communicated with. The result has been that to-day the bowls were located in a second-hand or pawn shop and an rest for theft made. The ease is to come on in the morning and Mr Hird is to attend as a witness. So far the bag and shoes have not been recovered.
