THE SLAUGHTERMEN’S DEMANDS.
A STRIKE IMPROBABLE
There is lu/ue fresh to .report regarding the details of the conference held in Wellington between the employers and the men m regard to the slaughtermen’s demands, i lie confeience was a thoroughly representative one, all the freezing companies in the Dominion, except those in the Canterbury district, being represented. It is understood, however, that a dennKo settlement lias been arrived at, but tne details will not be available for publication until they have been thoroughly re vised. Good relationship lias been established .between employers and employees, and it is practically eertain that there will not be a strike. The fact of the Canterbury freezing companies’concessions to the men practically settled that question; and it w Generally thought that the demands of the men in that direction will be conceded. The question of the killing rate was not (paramount at the conference but rather the general conditions ’ under which the factories are to wcr!:.
