Herr Harden, the well-known writer, in a newspaper article, .tolls the Germans that Air. Balfour is no agitator, and simply warns his countrymen not to depend on the goodwill or bad temper of any other Power, and that they must pay higher rates of insurance for their safety. Herr Harden adds: “Every Chancellerie hold an AngloGerman war probable. There are people in Germany who declare that a Customs tariff closing the British Empire to German goods anil have to he pierced by the German sword.”
A BRITISH RADICAL PAPER ON KRUPP’S ACTIVITIES.
The “Daily Chronicle,” replying to the reports as to an increased number of workmen being employed in Krupp’s works, states that Krupp’s chiefly turn out implements for peaceful industry, the greatest number of hands employed on armaments being 5000.
[lt may be remembered that another Radical the “Daily News,” suggested that the secret acceleration of the German naval building programme, which made such a sensation when discovered, was .merely due to Germany’s desire, to find work for her unemployed !]
