Yesterday was on extremely busy ‘day locally in shipping circles, there being in port during the day the auxiliary' schooners Fairburn, and -Waiapu, the scc-w Tramp, and the steamers Kaiyak’ and- Squall, while the Shaw, Savill and Albion Co.’s Waiwera was loading In the Bay. Two of these vessels, the Squall and the Waiapu, arrived yesterday. while the Kairaki in the morning .and the Fairburn sailed in the even'uig, thus reducing the -boats in port. The’ large amount of cargo to be embarked and disembarked required a 'considerable number of men, so that Pot a man belonging to the Waterside 'Workers' Union was to he seen idle. The 17.5.-S. Co.’s Squall arrived yesterday morning from Auckland and Yo-loga Bay. She sailed at 1.30 p.m. ■ on -the loth, passed- East Cape at 4 pan. on- the 16tli, arriving at Tologa Bay at- 10 p.m. 'the same d-ay._ Sailed again at- 3.30 a.m. on the 17tfli and arrived here as 8 a.m. Experienced ’fine clear weather, smooth sea. and right variable ivinds. The Squall leaves for Auckland direct at 11 o’clock tins morning. The scow Tramp finishes discharging cargo to-da'y, and will be ready to sail. The auxiliary schooner Waiapu arrived from Auckland, via Coast bays, vesterday morning. She left Auckland on January 11, and experienced •moderate northerly winds until the 13th. then westerly across the Bay of Plenty. On the 13th passed East Island, and anchored at Port Awanm the same day. and landed cargo. On the 14th finished Port Awanui and -went on to Waipiro. Landed and shinned cargo at Tokoma-ru on loth, and* at midnight- tlhe same day anchored at Tologa Bay. A _ strong north-east- wind came up on -Sunday, so the vessel came on to Gisborne. The cargo consists of 40 tons coal, 10 tons coke, 10 packages sundries, and a quantity of (pipe fittings. The Kaia-poi Shipping Co.’s Kairaki left- yesterday morning for Pigeon Bay, taking 2000 fat sheep, shipped by Dalgefcy and Co. The Shaw, Savill and Albion Co.’s Waiwera- leaves for Auckland this ev-e-ting. taking approximately 2700 bales wool, 13,000 carcases of frozen meat, m:d about 150 casks tallow. The Tyser Co.’s Star of -Canada is <]ae from Wellington on Wednesday, and loads about 3500 bales wool and 12,000 carcases frozen meat. The auxiliary schooner Fairburn left Jasb evening for Napier. From there she proceeds to Porongahau and loads •wool' back to Napier, and thence proceeds to Tokomaru for a load of wool for Gisborne. The New Zealand Shipping Co.’s chartered' steamer Swanley is expected from Auckland, for Home loading, at an earlv date. The TJ.S.S. Co.’s Alonowai arrives from South early to-morrow morning, leaving later for Auckland. The Tuatea goes out at 6 a.m. and 10 aim. The TJ.S.S. Co. is Mokoia returns fro-m Auckland to-morrow afternoon, leaving later for iSoutlh. The" New Zealand Shipping Co. s TI.M.S. Ruapehu left Capetown on Saturday for Hobart' and Wellington.
